Keeping Up with Imbeccable

Happy Thursday everyone! As you know, I am no where close to being a Kardashian, but the point of this post is that I have been basically MIA while still being around. Due to my cousin being in town for work, I have been traveling back and forth from Providence to Boston and have mostly been staying in Boston since the commute to work is much quicker. I’ll be on the move for the next week as well and will be staying in Boston all weekend so be sure to check back for posts about that.

More importantly, over the past week I have really been able to act upon my passions. When people ask me “what is your passion?” or “how can you do so much at once?” the truth is that passion is the same as love in that one word can have many different meanings. Below you will find five things that I have been taking part in lately to act upon my passions. The key to true happiness and success is finding your passions which you discover to create self fulfillment.

  1. Adoption

By far, the most important thing I have been up to lately is trying to give this sweet little boy pictured above, Cato, a chance to live his life to the fullest. As a product of adoption myself, there is not one thing that hits me right in the heart more than hearing about Cato’s story. This two-year-old handsome fellow is from a town close to where I grew up so this really hits home for me. Unfortunately, Cato is dealing with two birth parents who cannot seem to get on the right path and lead him to a great life.

With that said, there is a very special family and a woman named Morgan who already have a strong connection and deep love for this little boy. Morgan is already a mom of four children who range in age from 14-22. She has also been taking care of Cato since he was only 8 months old. Having many expenses and a lot on her plate has made things very difficult, but regardless of being unable to find the right answers, Morgan knows one thing for sure- she will never give up on caring for Cato.

After a long and emotional conversation last night, I decided that I am going to do everything that I possibly can to make sure she has all of the correct information and necessary funding to be able to properly and legally adopt Cato. It would mean the world to me, her, and this beautiful baby boy if you could help us in any way.

2. Sustainability

On Saturday, I had the pleasure of visiting the South End of Boston to attend a fashion event at Ash & Rose. This exciting night was run by one of my blogger besties and fellow fashionista, Bridgette. Bridgette is an extraordinary woman who is as spunky as she is sweet. There is never a dull moment when we are together and she is a true example of a woman of power. She is also getting married in only a few months in beautiful Jamaica! Bridgette runs Chic Beat Blog and you can find her page here.

Ash & Rose runs its business on three core values; sustainability, fair labor, and empowering women. Also, this boutique is run by a powerful mother daughter duo who even create their own pieces for the shop. Small businesses are so important in today’s world and it is amazing what these ladies are doing to keep up with current trends. Our environment is slowly deteriorating whether we choose to believe it or not. It is vital that we do whatever we can to save nature’s beauty and wear it too.

3. Education

Although I am a graduate of Johnson & Wales University and have a Bachelors of Science degree in Fashion Merchandising & Retail Marketing, I will never stop learning. I took as many honors level courses as I could throughout my time in college to really get into exciting topics and even taboo subjects. Not only do I enjoy fashion, but I also love cooking, fitness, sociology, psychology, architecture, business, and law. While it would be great to have degrees related to all of the above, I will work on this one step at a time.

However, I would like to announce that I have just started working towards becoming an Interior Designer. Although I am only 22 years old, I have always wanted to start my own business. I know this is difficult, but if I do as much as I can while I am young, it is only a matter of time until I can finally follow my dream of being my own boss. I have always loved design and have been working in merchandising since I graduated college. If there is a will, there is a way. I’ll be sure to update you on everything else that has been going on lately as well. (The first picture is my 500 sq ft apartment that I designed myself. I know it is March, but my little Christmas tree is still making its appearance next to the window.)
